There is a corruption of the production of information through the efforts of big Pharma.  It is driven by their unrelenting march to greater profits.  There is a need for the publishing of cautionary statements, made all the more necessary by big Pharma’s influence upon the media through advertising dollars, which entails that the media provides a less than balanced treatment in the reporting of medical information., by big Pharma’s role in the production of information (research, journals, text books, leading researchers, advertising, conferences, and  because of big Pharma manipulation of the attitude of care givers and also of the general populace—man is a social animal.  It is not how much progress our system of medicine for profits has made, but how much more would have been accomplished if a different system was in place (ran properly) in which scientists made decisions by the yardstick of the public weal.
